TDAC Thailand for retirees: what to prepare before you travel

The Thailand Digital Arrival Card is an online arrival form for non-Thai travellers. Complete it on the official Immigration Bureau website within the three-day window before arrival, including your arrival date.

Enter details in English and match the passport carefully. If the form scans the passport’s machine-readable zone, check the imported name, passport number, nationality, and date of birth before continuing.

A calm step-by-step process

  1. Open the official form. Check that the address begins with https://tdac.immigration.go.th/.
  2. Choose Arrival Card. Start an individual submission or the official group option if appropriate.
  3. Enter passport and personal details. Copy them exactly and review anything populated by a scan.
  4. Add trip and accommodation information. Use the details for the journey you are about to make.
  5. Complete health information if prompted. Answer the fields shown by the official system.
  6. Preview every page. Check spelling, passport number, date of birth, arrival date, flight or transport, and Thai address.
  7. Enter your email and submit. Use an inbox you can access while travelling.
  8. Save the result. Download the TDAC record or QR code and keep the email available.

The official FAQ says printing is not required, but a paper copy can be a useful backup if you do not want to rely on one device or battery.

A family member can help

The official TDAC FAQ says a person may complete the form for family members, children, or group travellers. The person helping should work from each traveller’s actual passport and trip details rather than memory or an old booking.

Family assistance checklist

  • Confirm that the traveller will use the same passport shown on the form.
  • Read back the name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, and arrival date.
  • Send the completed record to an email address available during travel.
  • Save a copy on the traveller’s device and, if helpful, with the family member assisting.
  • Agree who will make a correction if travel or accommodation details change.

The official guide allows group submissions for up to ten travellers. Each person still needs an accurate individual record.

If something changes

The official system includes an “Update Arrival Card” function for correctable details before travel. Some core identity fields cannot be changed through that function. If the incorrect field cannot be updated, the official FAQ directs the traveller to submit a new form with the correct information; the latest valid submission is used.

Recheck the official record after any flight, arrival-date, or accommodation change. For a later trip or a new entry after travel, complete a new TDAC.

TDAC does not replace your retirement paperwork

Visa or permission to stay

Your visa and the stay granted by Immigration are separate from the TDAC. Keep your retirement-route documents and dates in their own travel file.

90-day reporting

TDAC is an arrival form, not the periodic address report that may apply during a long stay.

TM30

TDAC does not replace the accommodation notification commonly called TM30. Check the current address-reporting responsibilities after arrival.

Entry decision

A completed TDAC does not guarantee admission. Immigration officers make entry decisions under the applicable rules.

  • Do not assume a third-party logo or search-result position makes a site official.
  • If you are unsure, return to the official Immigration Bureau TDAC manual and start again from its link.

TDAC questions for retirees

Can I submit the TDAC weeks before my flight?

No. The official guidance says to submit within three days before arrival, including the date of arrival.

Do I need to print the QR code?

No. The official FAQ says you can show the downloaded record on a phone or other device. A printout is optional if you want a backup.

Can my son, daughter, or spouse complete it for me?

Yes. The official FAQ allows completion for family members and group travellers. Check every field against the traveller’s passport and current booking.

Does my retirement visa mean I can skip TDAC?

No. The official FAQ says TDAC is required for non-Thai travellers across visa types. Complete a new TDAC for each entry unless current official guidance expressly says otherwise for your situation.

What if I am only transiting?
